MUNSTER – American Community Bank is leading the charge against debit card fraud for its customers with a new feature on its Mobile App that gives its customers the ability to “freeze” and “thaw” their debit cards as needed – in real time. All in just seconds!
This new feature, available exclusively through the American Community Bank Mobile App, provides customers with a simple and convenient way to disable and enable their debit cards. With a few simple taps of the finger, you can “freeze” or disable your debit card, rendering it unusable. All transactions are then declined, so you are protected from any unauthorized use of your debit card. Then with a few more taps of the finger, you can “thaw” or enable your debit card when you need it, even right at the point of sale. This gives American Community Bank customers complete control over the use of their debit cards!
The bank’s Chief Information Security Officer, Mohammad Saleem, says “This technology allows customers to take fraud protection into their own hands! We are always looking for more and better ways to help protect our customers, and this is a powerful addition. We are excited to be able to bring this feature to our debit cards.”
The bank’s President, Michael Mellon, says “This feature adds an ideal new control for the customer. Anything that helps a customer fight fraud is valuable, especially something so simple and easy to use. We’re proud to be on the leading edge of the fight against fraud.”
Saleem continues, “The best security tip I can offer is to simply freeze your debit card and leave it that way until you need to use it. That way if your debit card is lost or stolen, you’re already protected. This gives you the best protection, and that’s a great thing.”
The bank currently operates five full-service bank branches in Munster, Hammond, Dyer, Schererville and Crown Point, Indiana and offers a complete selection of consumer and business financial products. Deposits are insured up to applicable limits by the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
