MERRILLVILLE – Centier Bank has been named the Corporate Philanthropist of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Northwest Indiana Chapter for their continued generosity and involvement in the Northwest Indiana community.
The award was given to Centier Bank at the organization’s National Philanthropy Celebration, an awards ceremony honoring people, businesses and organization that provide significant philanthropic support and leadership to nonprofits across the region. Centier was nominated by Amanda Maynard, who serves Director of Development for Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana as well as the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Northwest Indiana Chapter President.
“In addition to the monetary gifts we have received, Centier Bank leads the way when it comes to corporate volunteering. They were our very first corporate volunteer account, and have been delivering meals for over 23 years,” explained Maynard. “Considering our volunteers collectively donate over $250,000 each year, you can see how important their volunteer work is to our organization and the example they set for other local businesses. What is even more impressive about Centier Bank’s generosity, is that I know that Meals on Wheels is just a sliver of the pie when it comes to organizations that have been impacted by the generosity of the Schrage family.”
The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Northwest Indiana Chapter fosters the growth of development of philanthropy, the fundraising profession, the Chapter, and its individual members. Accepting the award on Centier’s behalf was Vice President of Community Relations and Business Development Anthony Contrucci.
“Centier Bank is a community bank in every sense of the word,” explained Contrucci. “From the top down, giving back is ingrained in our culture. There are so many organizations in Northwest Indiana – and throughout the state – that are giving back and making an impact in their respective communities. That is why the Schrage and entire Centier family are so humbled to be recognized – It signifies that we are honoring and Living our Legacy… We feel blessed to be in a position that allows us to engage with the community and create impact through our Time, Talents, and Treasures.”
Jacki Stutzman (Outstanding Individual Philanthropist), Cavin Porter (Up-and-Coming Philanthropist), and the Gagan Family Foundation (Outstanding Foundation Award) were also honored at the celebration.
